University serves as a significant bridge between adolescence and adulthood. Some high school graduates prefer to take a trip or get a job for a year after their graduation. I strongly agree with them and will explain the advantages of this idea in this essay.
To begin with, this gap year allows students to have more opportunities to think about their motivations for studying at university, whether a higher educational degree will shape their future, and whether it is necessary to attend academic courses. Also, when students travel around the world, they get a chance to encounter various cultures and societies, which can help them perceive the needs of the modern era. For example, students can discover that the demand for technical experts or environmental professionals has increased today. So, they choose these fields for their further education.
In addition, gaining occupational experiences at this age offers a wide view of interests and talents to the students about themselves. In other words, they can realize what kind of job makes them happy and remains interesting for several years. Furthermore, work experience promotes their responsibility and fosters independence, leading to better communication and the ability to tackle life’s challenges more easily.
In conclusion, it is evident that taking some time off from studying has a positive effect on students’ future lives. In my opinion, this gap year not only provides an opportunity to think about the value of studying at a higher level but also allows students to experience different communities. As well, a gap year can trigger a recognition of talents and interests and finding an aligned major and job in the future.
