These days, many people are willing to have children later in their lives. This essay will argue that the advantages of having children outweigh the disadvantages.
One major disadvantage of putting off parenthood is that people may criticize them, which makes women’s lives stressful. Choosing to have children in one’s 30s or later may worsen their health and also affect children’s health over time. As a result, some children may suffer from rickets. Rickets is a disease that affects children and causes soft or weak bones, bone deformities, and slow growth. Moreover, delayed parenthood can negatively impact children’s behavior and attitudes because older parents may not be able to control and keep an eye on their children due to a lack of energy.
Despite these drawbacks, becoming parents at an older age offers several important advantages that make it highly valuable in modern societies. One key benefit is that people who have children later are usually more mature and better educated. This allows parents to raise children more wisely, which is particularly crucial for children. In addition, older parents often have stable jobs and higher incomes, allowing them to provide better living conditions, education, and healthcare. Compared to those who have children at younger ages, who do not feel a sense of responsibility and rely on others’ advice, older parents are emotionally ready, take responsibility more seriously, and make thoughtful decisions.
In conclusion, although delayed parenthood can negatively impact both parents’ and children’s health conditions, its overall benefits are more significant. Due to parents’ self-growth and financial independence, late parenthood plays an essential complementary role alongside early parenthood. Therefore, I firmly believe that the advantages of having children at older ages outweigh the disadvantages.
