Band 5+: Many young people nowadays choose to remain unmarried. Why are people doing this? Is this a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, the tendency to pursue a single lifestyle is increasingly prevalent among young people. This situation seems to stem from several factors such as prioritizing cancer and responsibility of family. I am of the view that it is generally a change for the worse.

To begin, there are two primary reasons that strive young adults to remain single. Initially, recent year majority of individuals prioritize their education and career development that give them a sense of freedom. This is because the pursuit of professional life and academic achievement can lead to postponing marriage. As marriage can be seen as a sign of distraction that may hinder them from achieving goals. Another contributing cause of this trend is the fear of fatherhood. Raising children connected with significant financially and emotional investments. As the cost of children’s education, healthcare and the feeling of unpreparedness to handle this crucial responsibility, leading them to postpone and avoid marriage until they become financially independent.

From my perspective, the tendency to remain single is a negative development. First and foremost, some people reckon staying single can allow individuals to focus on their personal development, career goals and self-discovery. However, this phenomenon can imbalance the birth rates. As nowadays many developed countries suffer from the low percentage of population that can have a significant impact on social services and economic stability.

In conclusion, although this phenomenon can be attributed to several reasons including the fear of fatherhood and personal ambition. In my point of view, this development has negative impact on birth rates and economic stability
