It is argued that the land required to meat consumption should be eliminated due to the shortage of land to grow meat. This essay will discuss some causes and suggest possible solutions.
On the one hand, there are several solutions for this situation. The first and foremost measure is that consuming meat regularly may lead to obesity since there are high level of calories in the content of meat and meat products. If governments show such disadvantages of meat on the media such TV, social media or newspapers, people may stop consuming meat which can contribute to the elimination of meat consumption. Additionally, in public places such restaurants, cafés and other areas, promotion of vegetarian foods may also reduce the meat consumption. This is because people may want to try such dishes when they visit eating places. In such cases, vegan foods can be more delicious for someone and can be the client of these foods. Therefore, the rise in the number of vegetarian dishes on the menu of restaurants and cafes may encourage individuals to consume them instead of eating meat dishes through thinking the more benefits of vegan cuisine rather than meat.
Despite the measures mentioned above, these solutions may cause some possible problems. Firstly, if the meat consumption is reduced, this can cause the increase in the number of unemployed people. This reason is that the production of meat provides many people such as farmers and other people with a stable, as well as a well-paid job. As a result, farmers and people working in the meat industry may lose their jobs. Furthermore, the cost of plant-based products may rise due to the high demand for such goods as many restaurants and cafes start to purchase vegan products to cook foods for their clients. Many individuals even try to avoid eating meat products and add vegetarian ones to their diet. This means that they buy more meat goods than ever before. Consequently, the demand for plant-based products may increase, and their prices are likely to rise.
To conclude, although reducing meat consumption can bring several benefits such as improving people’s health and promoting the popularity of vegetarian foods, it may also result in some negative consequences. These include job losses among those working in the meat industry and a rise in the prices of plant-based products due to increased demand.
