There is a tremendous increase in the rate at which people migrate from their home country to other developed nations. Such as America, Britain and Australia which have English as their Lingua Franca. Several reasons can be connected to this whch includes going to study in English at a tertiary institution and also for business purposes.
Undoubtedly, English is the most widely spoken language globally as against German, Swedish, Spanish or even French. It is also the majorly accepted language in almost all the first world’s countries and people from other continent like Asia and Africa always desire to become residents as the systems of these places are woking and the economies are better. Thus one of the ways in which migrating can be achieved is going to study in their universities or colleges and for such attempt being fluent in English is a major criteria for these nations.
Moreover, every entrepreneur aims to do business at international and global levels, this automatically requires that such individual is a perfect user of this language. A demand is therefore placed on him or her to either study it in his hometown or in a foreign land. A significant reason for studying it would be to feel more connected to foreigners and to build healthy and stronger relationships. For example, in the year 2008, there were a group of Chinese investors who came to Lagos, Nigeria to establish manufacturing industries. They had to seek for a translator of Chinese to English before their agenda could commence, this they did and were then able to fulfill their purposes.
