Schools should teach financial literacy. In this essay I will discuss if this should be taught or not.
FIrst of all, teaching money management could shorten the number of people who can not correctly spend their money because of absence of knowledge about financial literacy. Actually, many people do not know how to handle money when they become adults. As an example, by the results of a survey made among the homeless people, it is concluded that the main reason why they lost their houses was not even losing everythng in casino! Mostly they became homeless because of not knowing how to manage money, just because nobody taught it to them.
On the other hand, adding one more subject to children who already have enough lessons could be a trouble. Additionally, children already have the mathematics subject where they already learn how to count money and it may be enough for children. Maybe money management should be taught as a subject at universities but not at schools. For example, the statistics made by Irish students shows that more than 90% of students studying at universities understand some science subjects easier than students at school.
To sum up, teaching money management at schools can be beneficial by making people able to handle with money from their childhood, but still have some drawbacks as not every child is able to understand it at early ages.
