In recent years, more and more people are choosing to educate themselves online. This trend has become increasingly popular due to the convenience it offers. While online learning brings several benefits, it also has some drawbacks. This essay will discuss both advantages and disadvantages of studying online.
We can’t deny that learning online is convenient enough so that people can study anytime and anywhere. Compared to traditional learning, people can manage their time reasonably. In online learning, when someone want to do other things, they can delay their study time and learn later. In addition, people can learn at their own speed. As we know, people’s abilities are different, so traditional courses are not suitable for everyone since their pace depends on teachers. For example, some people don’t have good a foundation, it’s hard for them to follow traditional courses. However, when they use online learning, they can repeat or pause, which helps them to learn easily.
Nevertheless, learning online also has some disadvantages. Some people lack self-discipline and motivation; their efficiency is obviously lower than those who use traditional learning as nobody manages their study time. For instance, many pupils enjoy playing computer games, they often use their learning time to play, which is harmful to their study. Moreover, learners don’t have the opportunity to brainstorm their ideas. That is because they don’t have classmates in online courses, so it is difficult for them to share and communicate ideas with their classmates, which may limit their thinking. As a matter of fact, ideas always play an important role in studying, people can’t make great progress if they don’t have enough excellent ideas.
In conclusion, while studying online has some advantages, people still need to analyze the disadvantages. We can’t be limited to only using online learning or traditional learning. On the contrary, it is beneficial for us to combine them and use them depending on our specific situation
