It has become increasingly prevalent for people to buy a wide range of household products like television, microwave oven and rice cooker. In my opinion, this trend has a positive impact for consumers and a negative impact for the environment.
On the one hand, buying more and more household goods would be beneficial to manufactures and the economy. Firstly, this phenomenon means more and more people focus on their familiy, this convey a positive social massage that the living standard is gradually improved and people spend more time with their familiy. A good illustration for thi is that Vietnamese people purchase household goods in special occasions or holiday, such as Tet holiday, thereby raising the amount of household goods rises significantly. Secondly, buying household goods promotes economic growth. This trend can expand the market of consumers due to its potential and enable manufacturers to gain profits
On the other hand, the consuming of household gadgets threats to our environment. Firstly, this trend causes various detrimental environmental issues. This seems to stem from the fact that a process of producing household good invests natural resources. This is perfectly exemplified in case of automatic dishwasher, in spite of its upsides, this invention needs high amount electricity to run on, thereby running out of energy. Secondly, the use of household items is one of ways of overconsumption. If consumers are influenced by excessive consumerism, their life priorities become distorted. In stead of focusing on using goods which they possess, they would need to buy and own more goods. Therefore, this development is not positive for the environment since owning more products means using more natural resources
In conclusion, it seems to me that purchasing more household goods is beneficial to both human life and economy. Contrastly, this trend is harmful to natural resources.
