The question of whether having personal devices for each family members that deteriorate family bonds and long-term conversation. I agree with this viewpoint to some extent since this trend brings serious shortcomings.
I firmly contend that having own devices come with detrimental consequences, one of which is isolation and weaken emotional bonds. When each person has their own phone, laptop or tablet, they retreat into their own world, thereby reducing opportunities for shared experiences, such as family dinners or meaningful conversation. Take teenagers as an example. They spend their evenings playing games or watching unnecessary videos in their rooms instead of discussing their day, while parents scroll through social media. As a result, this issue can leads to loneliness and emotional distance, especially between parents and children.
Nevertheless, despite this disadvantages, having personal phones or tablets come with undeniable benefits, one of which is family communication. Given that families living in different cities or countries can use video calls, messaging or apps, it allows them to stay connected, send reminders, share entertainment and even organize family activities. Consequently, this not only bridges the barriers, but also improve their feelings, moods. This is exemplified by a father working abroad, who can read bedtime stories to his children via Zoom, check their honework via messaging apps as well as remain emotionally present due to physically far.
In conclusion, whereas I assume that owning mobile devices worsens family relationships, I am convinced that it opens the doors to unlimited connection, share their experiences.
