Nowadays, obesity has become a widespread disease among people, and many factors contribute to this situation. However, some people believe that increasing the prices of high-saturated fat products can be the solution to the problem of overweight. Nevertheless, I think that the issue of obesity requires a complex solution, and simply raising prices for fattening products cannot solve this problem.
One reason I disagree with this argument is that obesity requires a comprehensive solution, and merely increasing prices for high-fat products cannot be the sole solution. In my opinion, while raising prices for fattening products may reduce the number of overweight people, other factors such as engaging in regular physical activity and fostering interest in sports are also crucial. The issue of obesity is influenced by several factors, including burning extra calories, maintaining a healthy diet, and individual metabolism, all of which are vital in addressing this problem. For instance, while the average person consumes about 2000 calories a day, to stay healthy, they should burn off all the calories they intake. Otherwise, the excess calories will be stored as saturated fat. Therefore, addressing the issue of overweight cannot be accomplished by focusing on just one factor.
Furthermore, I believe that increasing prices will not necessarily reduce interest in high-fat content products. In today’s society, many people are addicted to consuming high-fat products, which contributes to obesity. Therefore, raising prices will not deter people from purchasing fattening products. Decreasing interest in saturated products among individuals could be a solution, but it is challenging to implement. For example, approximately 70% of all our daily meals consist of saturated fat. Consequently, people find it difficult to envision life without their habitual consumption of these products. Therefore, increasing the prices of fattening products would be a futile measure.
In conclusion, I completely disagree with the argument of raising prices for fat-containing products because other factors also significantly contribute to addressing the problem of obesity, and people have developed a strong attachment to consuming fat-containing products. Thus, in my view, increasing prices would offer no meaningful solution.
