Have you ever wondered about how to buy a product overseas? Have you considered buying online rather than going to the shop yourself? We are living in a technological era where everything is changing rapidly. Some people contend that the customers’ routine of buying and selling products has dramatically transformed due to the internet. I strongly believe that the new inventions revolutionized the way we shop. In this essay, I will outline the advantages and disadvantages of online and offline shopping, illustrating the superiority of online shopping.
Firstly, traditional shopping is a time-consumer as it requires the shoppers to go to the shop themselves, looking for the item they need to purchase. Unfortunately, in many scenarios, specific goods can be out of stock. I myself headed to three different outlets searching for a phone charger, with no luck. However, being in the store is a privilege because you can check the material yourself before paying a penny. For example, if you are going to obtain a piece of cloth, you can try it out first to see if it fits you or not, and how comfortable the material is. But, the time wasted in going from one store to another is dissatisfaction.
On the other hand, buying online has many pros. First, it’s a time-saver as you don’t need to go to the shop yourself. Second, with a press of a key, various websites open on the screen to check the availability of products. For instance, when you want to buy a new phone, you can surf the internet for many stores, and you can compare the prices. Of course, there are some cons, e.g. the tardy arrival of the delivery or receiving the wrong item. Finally, the benefits of the online shopping are greater than the harms. Think about how luxurious it is when you can ship an order from another country with a mouse click. In addition, you can browse for review of any products before buying it.
To conclude, experience suggests that online shopping has shifted the balance of power in favour of the customer.
Consumers not only have wider access to goods, but also have greater access to information and more control over how they shop.
