People have differing views about the involvement of crime in mass media, as it often terrifies other individuals.One says that it needs to be limited and banned in the news programs.In my opinion, news about violent crime should not be prohibited , because it alerts people to criminals.
I completely disagree with the idea that crime related to news should be excluded from mass media. By notifying other people with the violent stories and harsh crime, it can prevent other victims from such situations. For example, someone tried to prevent the argument or fight of other people, however that one also got involved in this fight and ended up in jail. Reporting some situations like that makes the other people aware of such crime and even could discourage other criminals.Moreover, sensational stories attract more viewers or readers that leads to fear of crime among the public.
However, the media report crime stories in order to increase their audience. Consequently, sometimes this news could become a sensational story and reading and watching about their family members could be painful for families of victims. In addition, if mass media focus only on violent crimes it could affect the mood and condition of other people. As when in television and in newspapers only negative situations discourage other people from watching it.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that reporting crime could prevent other future crimes and people need to be aware of violence in society.However, the consequence of reporting can be sad for other people.
