Band 9: nimals are in danger of extinction. People say that we should protect only those animals, which are useful to humans. Do you agree or disagree.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The threat of obliteration faced by numerous creatures is a growing global concern. While some argue that conservation efforts should be directed solely toward species that provide tangible benefits to humankind, this perspective is both ethically flawed and ecologically short-sighted. Every living being plays a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity, and prioritizing only crusial species would disrupt natural ecosystems. Therefore, all fauna at risk of annihilation deserve protection, regardless of their immediate utility to humans.

First and foremost, all species contribute to the delicate balance of nature. Many organisms, despite seeming insignificant, play vital roles in their habitats. For example, predators like wolves regulate herbivore populations, preventing overgrazing, while insects such as bees facilitate pollination, ensuring food production. If conservation efforts were based solely on perceived human benefit, we might fail to recognize the indirect but indispensable contributions of many wildlife forms. The loss of even a single specimen can trigger a cascade of ecological consequences, leading to further hazard for the environment and, ultimately, for humanity itself.

Moreover, protecting only useful beings reflects a narrow and anthropocentric mindset. Ethical considerations demand that we respect all forms of life, not just those that serve human interests. Many species are now facing peril due to deforestation, pollution, and climate change problems primarily caused by human activity. As the dominant species on Earth, we have a moral responsibility to mitigate the damage we have inflicted and ensure the survival of diverse fauna, rather than selectively preserving those that offer direct advantages.

In conclusion, limiting conservation efforts to beneficial creatures would be both ecologically reckless and ethically unjustifiable. Every organism has intrinsic value and contributes to the intricate web of life. Therefore, humanity must take responsibility for safeguarding all endangered wildlife, not just those that are deemed useful. A world that values biodiversity in its entirety is one that ensures a sustainable future for both nature and mankind.
