Nowadays, it is quite common to possess minimum one car for family, however there are people who do not have the possibility to own even one and this result in many difficulties during life. In my opinion, not having a car could be problematic if everything you need is far away from the place you live, but it depends on different factors.
Although we live in a modern society with different services, not every country or city has the same opportunities. For this reason, if we take into account a person who does not have a car and lives in a small town where public services do not function properly, this become a limitation for them because they need to organize their life as a function of buses or trains.
On the other hand, even people who possess a car have to struggle with different problems. For example, if you have to go to work by car, it is pretty common to find traffic, especially during the morning. Additionally, going everywhere with a car implies that you need to find a parking spot, which is not always easy.
In conclusion, having a car could be an advantage for certain reasons, such as the freedom of reaching every place in every moment without being conditioned by other people. At the same time, when you do not have a car you could find your independence even using another transport mode, for instance just a bike, hence I think is not an essential resource and it could cause problems too.
