There is no denying that advertisement has become a focal point of modern discourse, sparking a debate over whether it is pivotal to ban the advertising aimed at children. I disagree with this argument, as these marketing strategies bring a wide range of benefits for the development of the community.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that these campaigns lead to certain negative outcomes, notably for the environment. This is triggered by impulse buying and perceived needs when consumers overbuy unnecessary and inappropriate products, releasing a large volume of waste into the natural world. Furthermore, these advertisements for children encourage parents to purchase toxic products, resulting in hazardous diseases for consumers. For instance, water beads, which cause skin-related diseases, have become a popular toy in recent years due to the influence of YouTube videos. However, these adverse impacts can be addressed by monitoring content on the Internet and implementing consumer and environmental protection policies.
On the other hand, I firmly believe that advertising targeted at children ought not to be banned. First of all, banning this type of promotion might lead to widespread unemployment, as this idea affects both the advertisement and manufacturing sectors. This may cause governments to face challenges such as exacerbating social issues and lowering residents’ living standards. Secondly, this initiative also causes difficulties for consumers in seeking out appropriate products. Finally, banning advertisements for children hinders the growth of enterprises, as they cannot introduce their new products or inform consumers.
In conclusion, although advertising aimed at children may give rise to several drawbacks, such as environmental damage and potential health risks, these issues can be effectively tackled through stricter regulations and consumer protection policies. Therefore, I believe that such advertisements should not be banned, as they play a crucial role in supporting businesses, creating employment opportunities, and helping consumers make informed purchasing decisions.
