Open spaces have become frequently used workplace design in our days rather than separated ones. I think that this trend’s benefits like real-life cooperating and group work atmosphere outweigh its drawbacks such loosing privacy and difficulties for introverts.
Working in the open space offices provides a bunch of opportunities that contribute co-workers working as a team better, in compered to working in isolated rooms. The ideal example could be solving a hard problem. While worker could feel shy disturbing colleges by call or entering their private spaces for asking a hand, he could easily find someone who is free at the time in nearby seat in open-place designed office, so working as a single organism would be not a big deal. Not isolated rooms also give the atmosphere of group working because employee surrounded with individuals who are bouncing off ideas with each other and work as a team to achieve some result.
However, it is also clear that there are some downwards of not using separate offices. For instance, lack of privacy could be the major problem because almost everyone walking down of your workplace can see what are you doing on your monitor and get some private information what could lead to bad consequences. Although people who called themselves “introverts” are small part of population, working in an open space could be real challenge for them, in result the whole team work could fail its performance.
In conclusion, despite of clear evidence that working in open space designed offices has disadvantages like low privacy and difficulties for specified people, I would support the idea that it has more advantages such as opportunity to work as a team better and feel the “team” atmosphere.
