There is a huge controversy about the role of seniors in nurturing their grandchildren. In this regard, some people assume that elders have the duty to rear younger generations. Although, this essay will highlight the minor drawbacks of this development, I believe the proponents of this proposal are correct.
On the one hand, youth grown up by their grandparents face several difficulties in learning modern subjects effectively, such as computer-related disciplines. Since older people gained knowledge about these domains in school, most of them have experienced significant changes in the information they covered, which makes it more challenging for seniors to help their grandchildren with their homework in these fields and results in underperformance in them. For example, in Uzbekistan, students who do homework with their grandparents are likely to perform much lower grades than those controlled by parents. However, the potential benefit of seniors caring outweighs this concern.
On the other hand, individuals can benefit from growing up under the control of senior members of society, as they enhance their health. Older citizens usually eat healthy foods, and if youth are nurtured by them, they will be able to obtain healthy eating habits, which can boost their overall well-being and work efficacy. Recent research has also shown that over a two-third of healthy and successful residents was brought up by their grandparents who taught them how to eat healthy.
In conclusion, although this trend has adverse impact on children’s performance in some subjects, I believe that potential advantages to improve their health are much greater than this concern.
