Band 5+: Nowadays, many people change jobs quite regularly, rather than working in the one company for their entire careers. Why do you think this is happening? How can companies keep their workers?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Generally, job switch is important for career growth. Presently, several individuals are opting new jobs instead of staying in a same company for their whole working period. This essay will be discussing the causes of this phenomena as well as the steps that organizations should take to retain their employees.

To begin with, people tend to shift their employment because of some major reasons like better career opportunities, raised salaries and plausible working environment. One of the main reasons is different skill set like if they will be given a chance to improve their skills then they will consider that specific option. Moreover, they are also in continuous search of a good raise in their salaries so that they can increase their living standards. For instance, they can purchase a luxury car as well as a lavish house from the savings. In addition to that, if someone is frustrated with their current management and have politics at workplace or if their work-life balance is impacting then, peeps will look for ease in that. For example, as per a study conducted recently, more people switch their jobs because of their bad managers.

As far as the strategies of employer’s retention is concerned, organizations should give an option to career change by allowing workers to move from one department to another. However, this will not just improve the problem of monotonous skill set but it will also resolve the issue of same management. On the same side, they should provide incentives for extra hours, and provide market competitive increments to make their employees happy. It has been seen, companies who perform regular surveys to get the valuable feedback about their line managers and provide the details to the higher authorities to take actions have employees for longer periods of time.

To reckon, individuals move to other organizations to refine their skills, a good raise and for healthy working conditions so it can be reduced by companies by providing better increments and by giving exposure to different skill sets.
