People are travelling to international destinations for leisure. Some people are of the opinion that international travel has an adverse effect on the countries travelled to. In my opinion, travelling to a foreign nation for leisure, there are lot of positives which outweigh negatives.

Tourists can experience and understand the different cultures and traditions while admiring the natural beauty of various parts of the world. Touring a country provides an ample opportunity to follow one’s passion and dreams by indulging into adrenaline activities such as water sports, hiking, trekking, sky diving and bungee jumping. These kinds of activities are quite popular in many parts of the world which draws the attention of avid travellers. For example, I visited Sri Lanka with my family in 2015 for a holiday visited many popular places, scuba dive and also ended up in learning some delicious seafood recipes resulted in updating my culinary skills. Therefore, traveling to an international destination educates us on cultural aspects by providing real-life experiences and also developing new skills.

A traveller spending foreign currency in the visiting country helps to boost its economy.Tourisim is one of the major components of Gross Domestic Product of a nation, which creates employment opportunities for its citizens and aids in economic growth and development. The revenue a country earns from international tourists is invested in upgrading of the infrastructure in order to support tourism and provide world class experience. Many countries in the world such as Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore whose economies are mainly based on tourism and do have world-class infrastructures to attract tourists from all over the world.

There are concerns that international visitors might be involved in criminal activities such as child trafficking, drug peddling and prostitution. But these kind of activities may not always relate to international travel.However considering the benefits of international travel, there should be implementation of stringent laws and regulations to mitigate those issues so that country can provide memorable experience to international travellers.
