As visiting other countries for pleasure is becoming more popular, some people have started to think that this has a negative effect on the countries travelled to. In my opinion, this thought is not true, and I definitely disagree with it.
Tourists are affecting countries’ economies, especially in developing countries. Developing countries’ industrial income is not as high as their income gained by farming and tourism. So, tourists are in a really critical position for these countries. Having a strong economy is really important for a country to develop. Furthermore, a strong economy also means a relaxed and unstressful life for its citizens, and this kind of life brings time for its citizens’ hobbies. A life with hobbies, instead of constant thoughts of earning money, will quickly increase citizens’ both cultural and intellectual levels.
Besides, these kinds of trips may also have some individual effects too. Communicating with foreign people will help people to learn about new cultures. For instance, if an American meets a Japanese person, the American will learn about Japanese culture while the Japanese person is learning about American culture. In other words, a “cultural trade” will happen, and besides that, a new friendship will be built.
In conclusion, my opinion about travelling to foreign countries for pleasure is that it has some good effects, such as improving the countries’ economies and the interaction between the traveller and the citizens. All of these make me disagree with the opinion “These trips have negative impacts on the countries travelled to.” Travelling always affects both the traveller and the country travelled to, in many good ways.
