There is a rising debate as to wheather the new studying method is more beneficial to the society or pose a threat. From my perspective, I strongly agree that remote learning is more impactful to individuals.
First of all, Offering courses online provides comfort and convenience to students as it helps to reduce mental stress that might have arises from commuting to their various classes. In some cities especially Lagos, traffic congestion can not be eroded, hence, students tend to be exhausted before getting to the study rooms and this in turn reduces Thier mental ability to assimilate more. For example, A mathematics student need analytical skills to succeed both in the classroom and outside.however, their ability will not be fully displayed owing to the stress of commuting to school.
Furthermore,it helps reduce the overall running cost like, electricity, purchase of writing tools for the lectures and erecting of boards to display study materials and also, enable a proper use of university fund into other aspects that needs improvement such as, building of art galleries to display students work, which helps in career growth and development of their students. For example, instead of erecting more classrooms, institutes can decide to erect building to display students researches, science and art projects that helps put them out there.
Admittedly, studying online causes low or no concentration in class as students are easily distractions with chats from their colleagues or gossips from blogs, which deter the main reason for studying. For example,in an history class that need understanding, and students are carried away by the new car purchased by a celebrity or a gossip about a course mate.It affect, main course of study which won’t happen in conventional method of study
In conclusion, while, their are drawbacks to remote learning, which is distractions from one’s surroundings, the benefits, which is the comfort and convenience and reducation in running cost for the institution outweighs the disadvantages.
