Some people believe that celebrating Western festivals is not wrong while others concern about its influence of other countries to Vietnam. In this essay, I will discuss both views and give my own perspective of this statement.
One of the reasons why celebrating festival in the west is that many youngsters can be affected badly. There is concern that people at a young age can be influenced by the Western lifestyles. This exposure leads to the loss of appreciation of their country’s customs and traditions. Therefore, youngsters will have the thoughts which is not suitable with their age. However, apart from the concern of being badly affected by the foreign country, celebrating festival is not wrong.
One of the benefits of creating festival likes: Valentine Days or Christmas is to make the enjoyment among people. With the appearance of new festivals which come from other countries, people will not feel bored as they expose to many different kinds of festivals. By creating more and more festivals, the relationship between people and people can improve significantly. In the modern days, people have many things on their plates, therefore; the festival will give them a chance to celebrate and enjoy with other people. It can also enhance the economy of that country. The festival usually requires gifts, decorations so that business will be benefit from the increasing consume activity of people.
In conclusion, while creating a worry when the festival in other countries take place because of the erosion to local cultural; I believe that it is not wrong as it makes people entertain and benefits the overall economy of that country. Therefore, I think people should celebrate both foreign and their own festival.
