Positive And Negative

Band 7+: Nowadays, parents give their children more freedom than in the past. is this a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, many parents allow their children to have more freedom than in the past. Some people think this is a good change, while others believe it may lead to problems. I believe this change may lead to undesirable results.

This trend, however, offers several benefits. Firstly, it encourages independence.

By giving children freedom, we can prepare them well for adult life. Children learn decision-making, problem-solving, and responsibility at an early age. Through this, they grow up to be successful individuals in society. For example, when teenagers are allowed to choose their own hobbies or manage their study time, they learn how to make decisions and take responsibility for their actions. This helps them become more independent and confident. Secondly, Fosters Creativity with freedom, a child’s creative skills are not limited. When given the freedom to explore, children develop their interests and creativity. For instance, when children are given the freedom to choose activities like painting, writing stories, or building things, they can discover their talents and become more creative. This helps them think in new and original ways. As a result, when children are given more freedom, they develop essential life skills such as independence and creativity. These qualities help them make better decisions, solve problems effectively, and approach challenges with innovative thinking.

Despite this, I tend to view this development negatively. One negative effect is that it causes a lack of discipline. Giving children too much freedom can lead to a lack of discipline. When parents allow their children to make all decisions without proper guidance, it can result in them becoming less respectful of rules and authority. This lack of structure can make it harder for children to adapt to the responsibilities they will face later in life. On a more personal level, children may face bad influences, as excessive freedom can expose children to bad influences from peers or society. Without sufficient parental control, they may be more likely to engage in risky behaviors such as experimenting with drugs, alcohol, or other harmful activities. In some cases, this could even lead to poor academic performance or strained relationships with their family and friends.

In conclusion, although giving children more freedom can help them grow in some ways, too much independence may cause serious problems. Without enough guidance from parents, children might develop poor discipline and become more vulnerable to negative influences, which can affect their future in a harmful way.
