Many citizens these days are showing more propensity for visiting other countries when it comes to spending holidays. This trend might be attributed to a plethora of reasons, and it seems to me that it is dreadful for host countries.
There are two major factors contributing to traveling abroad to spend vacation. First and foremost, it could be a reliable way to enhance excitement levels in travelers’ lives since visiting domestic destinations every year might be tedious. Thus, exploring overseas would give people ample opportunity to have extraordinary experiences and accumulate unforgettable memories. Moreover, the vast majority of tourists tend to discover other cities to familiarize themselves with different backgrounds and ideas. This is often because they would meet locals and learn more about their cultural practices, namely dressing styles, cuisines, and traditional festivals. This, in turn, would play a vital role in broadening visitors’ horizons and becoming more tolerant of opposing beliefs.
From my perspective, I hold the notion that this phenomenon would be detrimental to welcoming nations in many ways. Initially, residents may suffer from a high cost of living. To illustrate, when the number of visitors increases living expenses would inevitably witness a considerable surge, especially in accommodation and entertainment facilities, including hotels, clubs and restaurants. Consequently, citizens might find difficulty in affording their basic needs. Furthermore, the tourism industry sometimes has a detrimental impact on the environment as some visitors develop bad habits of littering in beauty spots, which can be exacerbated by land contamination and threatening wildlife. On the contrary, if tourists were aware of the consequences of their actions, natural resorts could conserved, resulting in maintaining the ecosystem balance.
By way of conclusion, the growth in traveling overseas to have some time off could be attributed to enhancing amusement levels and encountering new cultures. I’m of the opinion that it can be negative due to increasing the financial burden on locals and engendering environmental degradation.
