In modern times, the amount of time spent on reading has reduced as it is becoming less common activity for young children. The reasons behind this problem are addiction to social media and reluctance to study. In other words, children don’t prioritize learning over entertainment.
The root cause of this trend is attributed to an excessive use of smart phone. Since using mobile phone was allowed to keep up with the latest news and for performing homework independently, some students are taking advantage of this priority. Instead of considering future career and self-development, today’s kids are engaged with their smart phones without taking benefits of reading into consideration. Another factor contributes to this challenge is lack of parental guidance. As parents are occupied with their work and home responsibilities, kids are using their mobile phones spending most of the time inactively.
To tackle this negative concern, every classroom has to be provided with a locker where all mobile phones should be saved during class so that students aren’t disturbed. Once they are accustomed to this habit, there would be slight increase in reading based on shared interest among children. While they aren’t permitted to use them, they can allow them to immerse in love of reading. What’s more, every family should allocate some time to encourage kids to read creating book corner so that family members can set good example without mobile phone distraction.
In conclusion, when it comes to developing reading habit, both parents and should take these steps by realizing their responsibilities.
