In today’s fast-paced world, young people encounter diverse challenges, making them more vulnerable to pressure compared to older generations. Years ago, people’s lives were void of the sophisticated technology that defines today’s world, leading to a simpler way of life. Although a small group of people claim that previous generations endured greater pressure than today’s youth, the majority acknowledge the opposite.
On one hand, most people advocate that youngsters nowadays are more overwhelmed than past people for numerous motives. To begin with, societies nowadays have higher expectations from teens; therefore, it demands more from individuals in terms of education and career succes. To elaborate, to remain competitive, young people should not only depend on the high school diploma for a stable job, but they also need to pursue higher education and multiple skills. In addition, technology is rapidly advancing and infiltrating every aspect of life, increasing stress levels among young people. For example, being constantly connected with others via social media platforms, young people have little time to unwind solely from anxiety.
On the other hand, however, opponents assume that earlier generations were more anxious than today. They argue that previous generations of young people faced various challenges while learning, for there was no advanced technology to provide students with all the information they need for their assignments, unlike today. However, this is entirely based on dubious grounds. Inevitably, the presence of technology in every aspect of life, especially education, has refrained students from being stress-free because it constantly demands their attention and creates a sense of pressure to keep up. To illustrate, learners face difficulties in trusting the information available on the internet, as they become overwhelmed by the conflicting perspectives.
To conclude, it is explicit that the majority insist that pressure has been encroaching significantly among today’s teenagers due to the increasing demands for securing good job prospects; whereas, the minority are sceptic about the fact that previous generations were more stressed, as the lack of technology made their lives complicated. In my own perspective, I believe that nowadays people are under increased tension because they are exposed to multiple obstacles due to the presence of revolutionising technology.
