Band 5+: Nowadays there are many television advertisements aimed at children. What effects do they have on children? Should TV advertising be controlled?

In contemporary times, there is an increasing prevalence of advertisements that focus on children. This essay will discuss effects on children of this phenomenon, and arguing that TV advertising should be restricted.

With the development of digital tools, children can approach numerous videos, especially advertisements that are shown on the television. Therefore, it is understandable that they potentially encounter several advertisements that contain adverse contents, which affect their mental health and lead to disoriented thoughts. These negative advertisements often contain adult images, and violent sceneries, which attract the curiosity of individuals about the products. For instance, in 2010, a company in America decided to broadcast a video related to their children nutritious products, which involved racism. Immediately, this advertisement invoked negative thoughts of children about their friends, which in turn led to the boycott among individuals about the product.

Therefore, several actions should be implement by authorities to restrict advertisements that aim at children. As mentioned earlier, children are vulnerable to extreme videos that contain shocking details, which affect their mental health and lead to deviation among them. In the long term, these affected children can cause numerous problems for society, creating burden for the governments. By controlling TV advertisements, governments can avoid severe consequenes which stem from the mentioned reason, safeguarding the safety of the society. Moreover, imposing regulations on the inappropriate advertisements can act as deterrent to other companies, thereby curbing negative images that are potentially encountered by children.

In conclusion, as mentioned earlier, a significant number of advertisements that focus on children tend to have adverse effects on children. Therefore, governments must limit these advertisements to ensure the development of mentality of children.
