There is a rising number of females in the workforce as well as professional women with high positions in organizations. Some critics suggest that such a trend would likely be more problematic. Although, according to some people, it would result in unfulfilled family lives, this view is rather conservative and sexist. However, I advocate for providing women with equal career opportunities as their male counterparts, for its potential benefits for families.
From some people’s perspective, the increasing number of women staff in the workforce is bothersome, as families are not well taken care of. Traditionally, bringing food to the family’s table was a duty of the father, whereas the woman’s role was to stay at home and take care of the house chores as well as taking care of the children. This view has long been with us since the existence of human beings, from which people had to hunt and gather food. These tasks required strength and survival skills that were possessed by male individuals, leaving female counterparts staying at home in charge of housework and looking after the young ones. Given that opinion in the current days, once women focus on the professional life, they are less likely to fulfill their traditional roles, leaving households’ tasks uncompleted and children not well cared for. These issues are commonly present nowadays, in which children lack parental supervision, leading to misbehaved and spoiled children growing up with poorly developed characteristics. However, such a view is relatively domineering, assuming female roles, which is not suitable to today’s fast-changing world, urging a balanced and flexible duty between father and mother to prioritize financial stability and child care. Likewise, this conventional perspective would deter the financial development of a family and eventually lead to more severe problems.
On the contrary, I support women’s involvement in the professional workforce, as it provides additional income for families to secure their financial stability. Given the current fast-changing paced era where hunting and gathering are no longer needed for humans’ survival, food and living necessities are now exchanged via money. Therefore, everyone, regardless of their gender, can acquire a job to make money to support their individual and family lives. As a result, each person should be given equal professional opportunities so that they can live independently and help society grow. In terms of family, women with stable careers also foster beneficial aid for their loved ones. Provided that the husband struggles with making constant income and is unable to support his family financially, the wife can help her husband by continuing her profession and taking over the economic providing roles of her family, while the husband can in turn take charge of the home duty, ensuring the children grow in the right directions. Hence, it is crucial for parents to be flexible in their roles in order to avoid the current difficulties and ensure their children have constant care from both mother and father.
In conclusion, despite several criticizing suggestions for the increasing opportunities for female roles in professions, I wholeheartedly support their advancement in careers, as it can support a family’s financial security, avoiding potential difficulties that disrupt children’s development, and ensuring a stress-free, happy family life.
