In recent years, young people have become less familiar with traditional customs and cultural practices than in previous times. From my perspective, I believe that this phenomenon can be closely connected with several factors, and it has a negative influence on society rather than it can brings any benefit.
One major reason is the rapid development of digital technologies and globalization. Social media, streaming services, and worldwide entertainment introduce youth to global lifestyles, values, and trends, often at the expense of local traditions. As a result, global culture becomes more attractive and accessible than national heritage practices, which may seem outdated or irrelevant. Also, it is a bit sorrowful that even parents give their preferences scrolling around internet in their free time instead of growing children’s interest to cultural values in their family.
Another important factor is urbanization and changing family structures. In the past, traditions were passed down naturally through extended families and close-knit communities. Today, nuclear families, hectic work schedules, and migration to big cities reduce daily contact with elders, limiting opportunities for cultural transmission. Consequently, young people may grow up disconnected from their cultural roots and in the most severe cases, it can lead to the loss of national identity.
In conclusion, modern devices, globalization and modern lifestyle are reasons why young people know less about their traditions, this change is more harmful than good. Keeping in balance cultural knowledge and new developments is important for a strong and stable community.
