In the recent years, spending huge quantities of money on shopping has become a crucial part of peoples’ lives especially when talking about the younger generations. I wholeheartedly believe that the rise in expenditure can have many negative consequences on our lives.
Firstly, young individuals do not have the ability to afford expensive items and as a result they can get in trouble trying to earn money. To illustrate, a small proportion of people would try getting involved in illegal activities in order to purchase their dream clothes, cellphone, or even car. In addition, most youngsters try asking their parents for money but this option also has its own disadvantages. For instance, many parents do not have the money to spare and therefore in some specific cases young people would try stealing money from their family without them noticing it.
Additionally, this crisis can have negative impacts on both the nearby society and the environment. For example, if all the people decide to spend their earnings in shopping malls, wearing high end designer brands would become an essential need for everyone. As a result, those who are not capable of affording expensive goods will be treated differently when compared to other individuals. Moreover, this rapid change in peoples’ spending behaviors would be very dangerous to the natural environment. To illustrate, by living this way every person would need a closet full of high end clothes, and to achieve this, mines, jungles, seas, and other sources of materials would experience an overusage, which can result in animals losing their shelters and many becoming extinct.
In conclusion, I personally believe that a rise in young populations’ expenditure can results in an increase in the number of criminal activities and individuals robbing their parents. In addition, the gap between the wealthy and poor populations’ would become bigger and also environment would be damages as a result of the rise in the amount of sources extracted from earth.
