It is true that dense population can have several detrimental impacts, including unemployment and low living conditions. Despite these problems, regulations can be implemented by government to tackle this trend.
As a huge number of people residing in urban areas, several related problems can be anticipated. The main issue is that overpopulation causes unemployment. This is due to the growth of business centres locating in urban areas, leading to more people moving to big cities to seek job opportunities. Therefore, job positions in urban areas cannot meet the demand for high competitive labor forces, making people losing their jobs. In addition, the cities only cannot occupied a large number of people, which is why the land prices skyrocketed. This trend leads to the citizens there do not have an affordable accommodation to live and forces them to choose lower living conditions such as slums or low quality apartments. For example, Dubai is one of the most affluent and populated cities in the world, but there are many slums located beside developed urban centers.
However, I believe that relocating urban facilities and enhancing transportation can discourage overpopulation. Firstly, the government can move schools or companies to rural areas. By doing so, citizens do not have to reside in big cities for their jobs or their children’s learning environment. Secondly, government can improve the transportation especially public transport. The enhancement could reduce the time used to commute. These relocation and enhancement can urge people to stay in there hometown or encourage people moving to rural areas; therefore, this could lessen the strains put on urban areas.
In conclusion, while excessive population can exert serious effects on inhabitant’s job opportunities and living conditions, these can be combated with improving transportation and relocating urban facilities.
