Band 5+: Parents are putting a lot of pressure on their children to succeed. What are the reasons for this? Is it a positive or negative development? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own

Some parents apply a lot of pressure on their kids, making them stress starting from early ages. This essay will discuss several reasons for this phenomenon and mention its negative sides in favour of positive ones due to some aspects, such as importance of children’s health and their future.

There might be some causes of parents’ tendency towards that kind of the behaviour. One of them is their unfullfiled goals. Specifically, some adults have exploited their offsprings to make their dreams come true. For example, I have heard a story of one boy, who was forced to become a doctor because it was his dad’s dream. Another explanation for this behavoir can be the parents’ view of parental education. In other words, wishing their kids the best, parents can underestimate the force they are applying on their children. For instance, while some guardians make their children to attend in numerous competitions from early ages, they often overlook the level of kids’ mental health.

Several consequences may occur because of that kind of practice among parents. First of all, there might be a problem with young people’s mental well-being. Under lots of pressure, people, and especially children tend to stress a lot. And such the high amount of stress never led to a positive outcome. As an example, some teenagers have given up their lives due to fear of failure in exams. Even if they will manage to withstand against this challenge, their future might be troublesome. These children may not be able to decide their career path in the future because of their withdrawn childhood.

In conclusion, parents might apply a lot of force due to their desire to make their children’s life the best and dissatisfaction with their past. However, that behaviour might lead to detrimental impact on teenagers health and future life
