Punishing parents for making their children obese is an argument amongst many. This essay disagrees with the statement as parents are also in a learning phase with their children as they grow old together and no parent wants bad for their child.
Parents can be easily blamed for the health of their children however, parents too grow, learn and experience new things as their child grows. They are not trained to take care of their first child, nor do they have any practice. Thus, they also learn new facts regarding parenting after each of their newborn. Usually the feeds that were most successful with their first born are also fed to the other children as they have a live example of their first healthy child.
Moreover, no parent wants bad for any of their children and out of love and care they feed the child all those things that are recommended to them by their elderly or someone that has great knowledge. Sometimes, parents also feed and follow some myths of their forefathers due to fear of being taunted as the elderly claims that the parents are negligible for their children health when they do not follow their recommendations. Another important aspect that usually keeps the parents in the dark is that all the effects of these harmful foods such as diseases or obesity is usually observed in the adulthood, as a healthy diet during the younger years leads to a healthy person in the adulthood.
Hence, I disagree that the parents should be punished for this as they too are humans, rather proper education and guidance should be provided to the parents so they can take the corrective actions.
