The past few decades have witnessed a remarkable drop in tax collection in most countries, due to the tendency of avoiding taxes among people and several loopholes in the law system. It is believed by a certain group of people that keeping all of the earnings should be legal and people should not be forced by the government to pay taxes, while I firmly disagree with this notion, as basic amenities cannot be affordable by the citizens if their government stops contributing to it.
To commence with the prime reason, it is totally impossible for people to arrange common facilities such of healthcare, transportation, rail service, and many more, by themselves without their government’s contribution because these services always required a huge amount of initial cost. For instance, the railway service in Bangladesh, often suffers with a lack of fund, failed to develop its network all accross the country. Moreover, due to its affordable ticket price for all passengers, it hardly collects running cost; thus, the government always has to rely on taxation for manufacturing new trains and expanding railway network, demonstrating the importance of tax-paying for the nation’s prosperity.
Furthermore, in developed countries, pension scheme, is one of the greatest advantages for their senior citizens, which cannot be continued if their citizens are reluctant to pay their taxes. In other words, different taxes such as, income tax, property tax, introduced by the government for individuals’ well-being in different ways in their lives, providing them with a sense of relaxation in their critical needs. However, the government can encourage people to share some of their earnings by advertising the benefits of tax-paying.
To encapsulate, tax services, not only can enhance the quality of life, but it can also lead to the tension-free retired life. From my perspective, the amount of tax should depend on the national GDP and should varry according to the national economy.
