In recent years, a debate has emerged about people’s physical activity in their free time. In particular, many people argue that in the past, people were more active, while today they are less. I totally agree with this view and will provide detailed reasons in this essay to support my position.
In this day and age, with the development of technology, people are increasingly dependent on electronic devices such as computers, iPads, and phones. This makes many people not like to spend their free time on sports or outdoor activities. For example, my friends shared that after finishing their homework, they would rather lie down and scroll through Facebook or Tik Tok for entertainment than get up and go out to play. Moreover, in today’s life, many people have too much to do, are always in a hurry, and never have enough time to relieve stress. For instance, I always see my aunts and uncles busy with work without any time to rest and even no time for their children, and when I want to invite them to go out, they often refuse and prefer to stay at home playing video games. In addition, some people have misconceptions about outdoor activities, they think that participating in outdoor activities is just a waste of their time and energy. In some schools, many students think that sports activities should be abolished, instead, the school should increase extra classes to help them in exams. But above all, the serious consequences of spending too little time on activities will affect brain health and reduce work productivity.
On the other hand, currently, there are also many gyms for everyone, and a large number of children participate in outdoor activities. Schools also encourage more extracurricular activities for students. Every year, my school organises a field trip and has traditional activities such as wrapping banh Chung and arranging peach blossoms during Tet.
In conclusion, I agree with the lack of free time to be active, and mainly the problem of people being less passionate because they do not understand themselves. Schools and governments should improve sports activities because people can have both social and health benefits.
