Everything has been digitalized due to the modern technology. In that way, libraries are also becoming accessible via online instead of placed in a building and providing printed materials and books. This may contains both benefits and harms together as outcomes.
If it comes to refer advantages, there were several improvements occurred by these changes. Firstly, every book would be available anytime when people think to read, without any delay. For example, in traditional method of borrowing books in libraries, some books would be borrowed by someone before we started to search. Moreover, travelling costs will be controlled due to this change. A better example to illustrate this is, people will be penalized by library committee for delaying to return books. Therefore, they have to visit there physically even they are unable to do that. It would be reduced if library has been digitalized.
In contrast, individuals will face countable disadvantages from this, such as, people are becoming lack of interest to read books nowadays. A study by Halton Frazee, Tokyo University of Japan confirms that, if anyone reads e-books, they have been distracted by social media notifications as well as many workers choose to read books for being free from devices. This development dissatisfies them. Whereas, reading limited sized letters with devices may lead to visual disorders. There is a medical report which shows that many students affected by rays from devices due to the usage of e-books and it is a result of homeworks and assignments have been given through internet.
In conclusion, libraries’ digitalization is acceptable sometimes but it causes some health issues too. Therefore, usage of devices at the limit is much better to improve students’ skills.
