Air pollution is increasing nowadays due to several reasons. The best way to reduce it is by raising the price of international flights. Although it will be helpful, I totally disagree that it is a best practice as it would not decrease the number of travelers. I think that updating the airplane engine by using the latest technologies will be helpful to reduce the emission of toxic gases.
Making international flights more costly does not help to drop the number of passengers as people, in the 21st century, are earning more and spending more than used to in the past. Hence, the number of airplanes is growing, and it will be continuously making the air polluted. In addition, tourism is the biggest industry and the preferable mode of transportation for this industry is via air. For that, people are willing to pay high cost to full fill their dream and to enjoy their vacation. In last, high cost of overseas flights is not reducing the air pollution.
There are so many other ways to increase the quality of air rather than making internation travel expensive. For example, increasing the efficiency of airplane engines and making some modifications to it will be helpful to reduce carbon emissions. Although developing new technologies are more expensive, it will increase overall efficiency. And less toxic gases are in the air. Moreover, the government should make rules and regulations to monitor air emission that are created by different airlines. There are some penalties for those who emit toxic gases more.
In conclusion, as people have more money than in the past, and they are willing to spend. Increasing the price of international flights is not the best way to reduce air pollution. Rather than that, I believe that modifying the airplane engine and making it more fuel efficient will be a more efficient way.
