Pollution is a highly debatable issue in the world currently. One of the said main contributors in pollution is the logistics of goods and people. This essay will discuss whether the government is responsible or whether the citizens are to blame for this issue.
The logistics of goods and people is a fundamental part of society. Without the movement of products and people the world as we know it will cease to work properly. Although transportation is beneficial to society, it is also one of the main causes of pollution.
The government is responsible for creating laws to protect its country and citizens. It should protect the country and its citizens not only from war or crime, but also from issues like pollution. The government should legislate laws that would mitigate pollution brought about by transporting goods and people. For example, in China, the lack of proper regulations in regards to freights have contributed significantly to air pollution.
People are consumers of goods as well as travelling. Consumerism fuels more demand for transportation and travelling. The more people consume and travel, the greater the necessity for transportation thus exacerbating pollution. In fact, it has been found that the use of fossil-fueled powered cars is the biggest source of air pollution in cities.
In this regard, I believe that the lack of proper regulations and policies from the government and excessive consumerism of individuals are both to blame for the pollution brought about by the transportation of goods and people. The government should be legislating policies that limit the emissions of pollutants in the environment from the movement of goods and people while people should become aware of how their actions have adverse reactions to the environment.
