Nowadays, science has been widely applied in stopping crimes. So many people believed that science is more useful than human judgement in term of stopping crime. However, I would like to say that only combining science technology and human judgement together can we have a better effect in stopping crime.
It is fact that science plays an important role in stopping crimes, such as helping polices to determine who is guilty and catching criminals. In ancient China, it was not rare that police officials tended to beat or hurt the suspected to force them claim that they were criminals when they were lack of evidences, which made a number of wrong judgements. But technologies are going to end this situation. By applying DNA tests and fingerprints checks, it is easier to proof someone’s innocence. What is more, the monitoring camera and big data can provide evidences, as well as track the criminal’s location. Technology makes it easier to crack cases, thus helps stopping crime.
However, results from science tools need human to judge and combine. DNA test is accurate, but when the suspect is one of the twins, we need human judgement to find out the real criminal. Moreover, tracking a suspect’s route need human to stare at the monitor screens. Technology nowadays is not perfect enough to allow automatically judging crimes, and maybe lead to wrong judgement, so human are still key roles in collecting results and analyzing them.
Therefore, both science and human judgement are important and useful. Without science, our polices cannot efficiently find out the criminals accurately; without human judgement, we cannot ensure the efficiency and accurate rate of technology, which could have a bad impact on stopping crime.
