In our modern society, people are becoming increasingly conscious of what they eat and drink on a regular basis. However, I strongly believe that retailers should not be authorized to sell food that scientists have logically proven to be dangerous.
To begin with, the more harmful food folks consume, the higher their morbidity rate. For example, vegetables and fruits that have been fertilized with pesticides are frequently linked to cancer in later life if consumed on a regular basis. Even though I recognize that some believe that what to eat and drink is entirely up to the consumer’s choice and responsibility, I believe it is unethical to continue giving dangerous foods knowing that they have been scientifically proven to have detrimental consequences later.
Second, there is an ethical problem about serving food that is unsafe for humans. Although I acknowledge that if stores or companies that sell products that are described as unhealthy ceased selling food, they would lose revenues, resulting in a high unemployment rate, the issue is that no one has the right to profit at the expense of others’ health. So, my biggest point is that some people are unable to make their own decisions due to a lack of intimate understanding about a healthy diet. For example, children are frequently victims of companies or stores that sell products containing harmful substances because they are typically too young to make an informed selection, or they are unaware of the risks. Thus, it is irresponsible to promote products with dangerous substances to students who lack suitable diet information.
To recapitulate, shops that sell unhealthy food not only increase morbidity rates, but they also profit in an inhumane manner, endangering vulnerable people’s safety. As a result, I am a firm believer that no one should sell harmful food as scientific evidence suggests.
