Opinions vary regarding the appropriateness of selling food products which have been officially proved to be unhealthy for consumers. While this phenomenon may be somehow common in social scenarios,I strongly believe that such action should be strictly prohibited otherwise there will be little shoppers who are still take customers’s health into consideration.
Admittedly, implementing restrictions overwhelmingly to retailers who earn their living with merely slight profits can pose them at a risk of sacrifice sale, which may result in a tremendous amount of unemployment.Besides, scientific assessments of food safety may not be always accurate and precise, and also could be influenced by experimental errors. Therefore, setting criteria solely based on scientific research would be controversial if there were not sufficient evidences in practice.
However,it is undoubtedly instrumental that governments should take people’s wellbeing into first account. One of the most significant reason is that if government do not set limitations in sales of food, there will no longer be standard retailers who sell healthy food genuinely, according to the philosophy concerning bad money drives out good. For instance, the cost of selling snacks without regarding about the quality is much lower than that of those who need to apply standard supervision in food supplies, which may bring on scenarios that eligible sellers are unlikely to exhibit willingness to burden the extra cost compared to their counterparts who may lack such costly concerns.
In conclusion, while the notion that introducing rigid policy is harmful to those small businesses, I hold the belief that the foremost priority of policymakers should be consumer’s fitness.
