Tourism has become a rapidly growing industry worldwide and countries are increasingly focusing on promoting it . In a developing country like Bangladesh, tourism should be promoted due to its economic and social development. In my opinion, tourism can bring numerous benefits, it also has some drawbacks that need to be carefully addressed.
To begin with, there are several strong reasons why tourism should be promoted in Bangladesh. One of the main causes is economic growth. Tourism can bring a large amount of foreign currency. For instance, famous places such as Cox’s Bazar and Sundarbon attract both local and international visitors, which helps boost the national economy. Secondly, tourism can create employment opportunities and support local people to raise their small businesses. To attract visitors, governments improve roads, building new hotels and public facilities. In addition, many young people can become self-employed through tourism related businesses. Furthermore, tourism allows individuals to learn about Bangladeshi culture, tradition and food, while locals gain exposure to global culture.
However, there are also some drawbacks of promoting tourism. Firstly, too many tourists can harm natural sites and often become overcrowded, leading to pollution noise and discomfort. Secondly, tourism jobs are not always stable. Many people earn only during peak seasons, which creates financial uncertainty. Finally, as tourism increases, price for goods, services and housing may rise, making it difficult for local residents to afford their daily lives.
In conclusion, promoting tourism in Bangladesh is a positive development due to his economic and social benefits. However, the government should take proper steps to minimise environmental damage and cultural heritage. Sustainable tourism is the key to long-term success.
