Nowadays, an increasing number of people are concerning about developments in technology are contributing to the gap between rich and poor. While modern technology can increase this social problem, I believe that it can bridge the gap of these two social classes.
On the one hand, it is true that new technology increases the gap. To begin with, newest technology usually expensive that only affluent people can have them. For example, in healthcare, rich people can pay more money to took advance treatments with fewer side effects, whereas the opposite can be seen that poor individuals only have enough money for traditional treatments. Additionaly, having up to date technology accessories is one of the most effective way to show off their influence. As the consequence, people who don’t have enough money to afford these costly items may have to borrow cash to not be left behind.
On the other hand, thanks to the development of technology, the gap between rich and poor is narrowed. At first, advances technology reduces production cost so that everyone can afford new items. For instance, in the past, the price of point pen was too high that not all people can easily have it. However, since machines can product these pens in high quantities, even poor people can have at least a pen at their home. Moreover, virtual facilities are availaible for everyone so people can acess to gain their own benefits. There are some e-facilities, online shopping application, e-learning website, or networking site, to name but a few.
In conclusion, although advances technology are increasing the gap between the rich and the poor, I would also comment that technology also decrease the gap. The choosen must be place between the two for the best outcome.
