There is an ongoing debate regarding whether learning a foreign language in the early stages of education or should be later. While some people believe that learning a language too early can be stressful,in my opinion, children can learn languages faster and more naturally because can imitate sounds easily and not afraid to make mistakes.
On the one hand, some people think that learning a foreign language should be taught later, as some children may mix languages or take longer to master their mother tongue. They argue that very young children tend to forget parts af their native language and their development may be affected. For instance, research has shown that children who start learning a second language very early may sometimes experience temporary delays in their native language development. From this perspective, learning foreign languages in the early age appears to hinder development in their mother tongue.
On the other hand, learning foreign languages can be contribute to children’s intellectual, emotional, and social development. Learning a second language early can enhance attention, socializing, cognitive skills and problem-solving abilities. For example, research indicates that bilingual children often score significantly higher on intelligence tests and children who can speak two languages fluently can switch between languages, which improves mental flexibility and multitasking. In addition, learning a language at an early age are beneficial and crucial to enhancing opportunities and intellectual development, as it improves memory, problem-solving, and cognitive flexibility.
In conclusion, although some people argue that learning a language very early may confuse children and affect their native language, In my opinion, that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Early language learning is crucial for development and improving socializing. Therefore, early language learning plays a key role in children’s development.
