In this contemporary era, the rules and regulations are very important to live peacefully in the society. Although, many people think that governments need to urge strict actions in order to improve road safety. As per my perspective, I partially agree with this argument.
To begin with, there are ample merits to advocate that the road safety comes by imposing strict punishments. The most prominent reason is that by taking strict actions, people get aware to drive slowly and carefully. They do not try rush driving because of the rules. In other words, If any one drive very fast, in this case, local council have to possess strict actions on them like ban their license or penalties. So, they can get to know their mistake, and not to try it again. For instance, in Surat, which is located in India, local authorities take strict actions to everyone who not wear helmet, drive fast, and many more. As a result, people get aware to follow the rules, and it improves the road safety.
On the contradictory side, there are not the only way to improve road safety by giving punishments. According to a study, the primary source of road accidents are generally caused by mechanical malfunction and unsafe driving conditions. Therefore, implementing laws and taking such strict actions are not only way to maintain safety but ensure proper driving standards are followed while riding in difficult conditions like using winter tires, using appropriate driving practices during rain and fog. For instance, most of the accidents occurred in the monsoon season because of the slippery road. Another important aspect to enhance safety is to implement roads in the semi urban and rural areas. Better roads implementation help society from accident. Moreover, authorities need to install some street lights. So, people can get some vision in night to drive safely.
To conclude, it can be clearly seen that road safety improvement, which is happened by imposing strict punishments have several positive traits such as penalties and banning license. However, it also have many other sources to improve road safety instead of giving punishments.
