It is argued here that some countries are struggling because of increasing surge of crime and many people think that the crime could be reduced if more police officers are assigned to their particular street.I partially agree with the fact that if there is more sense of security on the streets crime would significantly decrease or maybe be even plummet to zero
To begin with, if more uniformed officers are assigned to a particular street or area the crime rate would significantly decrease over some period of time .Criminals would often leave on site if officers would be present there all the time.Like for an instance if a drug dealer operating in that particular area where there is more posting of officers , it would be difficult for him to operate and maybe sometime even gets caught by the police.However that’s not the case every time sometime because of high posting of officers maybe the dealer would just take their business else where which would mean crime rate will increase where there are less police.
On the contrary if more officers are assigned to a particular street there would be a scarcity of officers for solving cases,pending paper work for criminals .For an example if there is robbery on 72nd street and the officers are assigned else where people maybe lose their valuable and maybe even their lives.Besides the police won’t have enough budgets to assign more officers on every street and maybe because of all this workload some officers may resign.
To sum up,i partially agree for a short period of this strategy may work but for the long run Maybe the chief of police would devise some policies which would help on bringing the crime rate down while not assigning more police on streets
