Learning a second language in elementary school in some experts’ opinion is better than learning it in middle school. This essay agrees with this statement and believes learning at younger ages makes the children native speakers which can give them a strong advantage in their future life and moreover, it can develop some cognitive skills. Nonetheless switching between two languages can be hard.
Teaching another language to children will make them native speakers because they have the ability to absorb the language better than adults. As a consequence when they are grown-ups, they know two languages as their mother tongue which is an immense help for their future work and life. It also potentially can open many doors and create considerable opportunities as they don’t have a language barrier. Learning a language, especially at younger ages helps cognitive skills development and it indeed has a tremendous effect on brains and how the neurons could connect. Studies show learning two or more languages in childhood would(?) help their overall intelligence by 40% over other individuals.
Conversely having over than one language to talk can cause difficulty in language switches which in consequence can lead to having many confusion when it comes to interacting with peers in school. Although this problem is not the case for the majority of children it gets better as they grow. For instance, in inclusive countries, most immigrants’ children have another native language and at the same time, they interact without any problem with their domestic classmates. (, and it is not a problem in most cases)
In conclusion, acquiring another language in the early years can assist children in the coming years and would make their brain development easier, faster, and, more efficient. It might cause some difficulties in language switch which is ignorable and the merits can outweigh the demerits undoubtedly.
