On the one hand, the main reason behind spending more time following political news is the implementation of several types of social media applications. They have made a strong influence in human life. This is because social media platforms are introducing new features continuously and they are the places where the public can know everything currently happening in the world at their fingertips. As a result, individuals spend more time on social media, which leads them to spend more time on political news. In Kerala, for instance, millions of social media users contributed to CMDR F (Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund) by knowing the seriousness of the tragedy that happened in Wayanad through social media.
On the other hand, the reason why politics deserves more attention is that it decides the future of a democratic country. Because most individuals are related to politics, political awareness is an important factor while living in a democratic country like India. As a result, understanding politics helps us to make better decisions about whom to vote for and encourage positive changes in society. In India, for example, the implementation of GST was a major political decision that affected the price of goods and services across the country.
In conclusion, the usage of social media leads to spent more time following political news, whereas politics deserves more attention because it affects our lives, improves government, and supports social progress.
