Today increasing population in many countries poses a problem in many aspects. In my opinion, the best way to control is to impose taxes on families with many children.
Increasing population results in depletion of essential resources. Since, the number of individuals per household increase, there’s a rise in demand for basic necessities like housing, education, food, water, electricity, medical needs and so on. Therefore, the government has to spend more time, energy and money to meet that demands of more and more people. Which in effect takes up the essential time that could have been spent to look into other and more significant activities, that would help the country to boost its economy and meet the standards of a developed country from an under-developed or developing country. For example, consider the food needs of the population, the existing harvests would be insufficient to meet the demands, resulting in increased export of goods than import of goods.
Another drawback is that the crime rates can increase leading to fear, insecurity, disharmony, and mistrust in society. This may stem from unemployment of youth due to the inability of the government to provide a job for every person of working age. It is the duty of the elected government to maintain the law and order in the country, which can be done by treating the root cause – overpopulation.
To conclude, re-emphasizing my opinion, imposing taxes is the best way as this may save the country from many fundamental problems and in the end result in benefitting the people of the nation.
