A lot of museums have a price for the entrance but others are free of charge. In my opinion, the disadvantages of charging admission fees outweigh the advantages of charging admission fees because will exclude low income families from the educational experience.
There are lots of museums who charge their visitors for entry. Paying an admission fee for museums can cover utilities and maintenance costs. In addition, due to the charging fees, fewer people may visit museums. This will allow visitors to take their time and enjoy the exhibits without the place being crowded. For instance, Palace of Culture from Romania, has very high entrance fee and for that, people who visit the Palace has the opportunity to have a personal guide and a free snack from the restaurant included in the tichet.
On the other hand, having to pay fees when it comes to visiting a museum can be a disadvantage for most of the population, because not everyone can afford to pay a ticket and fewer people will benefit from the educational experience. Families with low incomes cannot offer their children the opportunity to go and visit a museum to allow them to learn about history and gain knowledge. For example, most museums and galleries in Romania, reduce their fees or allow children under age to enter for free, and for adults, to visit at the weekend is free. I believe that disadvantages of charging admission fee outweigh the advantages of charging admission fees because will exclude low income families from the educational experience.
In conclusion, charging people for admission will help museums and galleries pay for the utilities and maintenance. At the same time will exclude low-income families from the educational experience however, I believe that the disadvantages of charging admission fees outweigh the advantages of charging admission fees.
